Finally finished after five days on and off. This setter seems quite tough to me. Nice to see a phrase appear in the left hand column. If anyone is missing an answer or two, please post here.

I can't believe I've almost finished this. It seemed too tough for me at the start. Of course, I couldn't have done it without the help from here, so thanks to everyone who generously posted.

I can only find Lagting to fit the letters, but it doesn't really fit the clue.

diet as in parliament, which Lagting is.

In answer to Demeter, yes Q's column has no clashes, in fact there don't seem to be any Qs amongst the grid entries.
