Thanx, Syzygy!
I can't even find my last solution, so no, not as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks, Aristo, but I think it's a rather small crowd who are into it.
Pity. Rather good one this month & involves a little thinking.

Buried by too many posts such as this one
http://www.crosswordsolver.org/forum/379105/why
& the enablers leap into action. Look at the time stamps ! Took a bit of prodding to get the relevant info.

Talk about self-absorbed.
Are there other puzzles out there besides the one I'm doing?
Really? Get out!

As usual I'm enjoying trying but I can't do enough clues without the help of some letters so it's tough. But I do like these puzzles, thanks Syzygy

You're welcome.

It can be a challenge to get a toe-hold with this kind of puzzle.
One approach to is to use graph paper for your answers & look for crosses.
If you can get a couple of 12s that would help. Also small groups such 7s, 6s, & 5s can help.
Less common letters, such as B, C, G, H, P, U, V, Y, are handy for crosses.
There are two Ks & an X, but they are unchecked.
The preamble also gives hints re uncommon answers, though 10A isn't really.

Hope that's of some help.

I'll try to post the solution in a couple of days. Have to get my ar*e in gear & install a new printer / scanner.

Nice to hear even you have technical problems sometimes, Syzygy! Mine this morning concerned the downloading of the Speccie, though others seem to be having no problems....................

Not had much chance to look at it this time but will make some time in the next couple of days as I really enjoy these. So if you do put out a solution, can you put a 'SPOILER'' alert with it Syzzie just to give me/us a heads up.

Re: Uncommon word.
I agree Syzzie and feel Mr Maltby uses this phrase quite loosely because many times before, they've not been that uncommon at all, or is it because we use the Chambers, not sure really.

Must be Chambers. NA puzzles are littered with mundane answers, & clues:
Asta, Abel, amp, anti, apse, asp, eel, erg, oat, olé, SSR, SST, etc, & their plurals.

"uvea" has appeared at least 20 times in recent months.
