Do you remember the war Pendragon?

I have an obvious answer, and two letters for the moon, but the dash eludes me. I would be a little happier with "dashed."

If 26dn is loop, then it works as a self-standing clue. That means that 26ac would need to be paired with another clue, and that's where it all falls apart.

In 4d, think of "dash" as "dash!!"

26A only really fits with 26D doesn't it?

The other ones fit too well to be wrong I think, you must be right with in the loop/pool (or in the know)

The only words I can find to fit ??O???C?, where the first and fifth letters are the same are

AMORANCE, BLOWBACK, GEORGICS, PROSPECT and ROOF-RACK

If it’s ??C???O?,

ALCMAEON, COCK-CROW, MOCK MOON, and RACE RIOT

I think you may have been right all along. It is LOOP. The 26A precedes one of the other words. No wonder I wasn't happy with it.

26ac goes before 4dn to make "cuts".
