20d - parses as 1,2,3 with the definition being "canine".

Not a typical Paul this as it took me an age to get the last three. Including my LOI 23d which was hidden in plain sight.

I know Paul is very Marmite but I thought this was a really good puzzle with some very clever hiding and red herrings.

FOI was 7d. COD has to go to 15d for the cleverest definition in a long time.

Finished, though didn't enjoy most of it. Some good ones, though - favourites 15d (as with most here) and (FOI, in fact) 26a for the definition!

Most parsed, but I can't see what the sausage is doing in 5a.

5a - it's "not a sausage" and gives the last letter.

Chris, I remember seeing 26a and, being young at the time, the blinding scene freaked me out 😩
