Having said that, I'm not convinced that my final drawing is correct. It's sort of right but not complete (if you know what I mean).

It took me a while to find the motif. Once you identify the work the endgame becomes straightforward.

Lovely puzzle - and a bit of nostalgia! Thanks Karla

simond9x, the final drawing that I have is unambiguous and definitely complete. I do not understand your doubts, have you replaced the necessary entry?

Weirdly, I have got there without ever solving the jumbles, let alone finding what the extra letters said.

I didn't even identify all 14 clues with extra words.

So, it was a bit of inspiration and good luck, rather than a proper solution. That, to me, is a GWIT.

Sorry, Karla, I love the theme but not the puzzle.

Surely a GWIT is when you have solved all the puzzle completely and there is not enough information to reach the endgame.

I guess the endgame is always going to be tricky without all the info

rhsl turned it into a GWIT with a partial solve.

We only found all the extra words after the solve was finished but that was just for completeness sake.

Hi gitto, I defintely have a drawing which uses the last 2 words of the corrected Across clues, but my drawing also relies on the other two aspects of the endgame which don't physically join up. I expected to have to use more of the "five similar letters". So, yes, it all looks rather like the character but I'm sure I may have missed something.

On getting/guessing the work without the 14 letters from the Down clues, I'm not sure what else would give it.

The unused letters from the down clues give a motif from the work in question.

Agree but I think rhsl suggested that he didn't get what the unused letters said. Maybe I misunderstood his post?
