I've yet to start this but, if it's not giving too much away, is the synonym for "completely" in the 13 ,3 clue a 5 letter noun?

To be honest, I did think both 'hole' and 'world' were stretching the point, but thought I'd ask.

Can I just ask - why do you need to 'draw the grid'?

Good question Malone.

As the barred crosswords often involved artwork to some degree in the endgame, I felt the printed grids in the respective newspapers were, in many cases, just too small to do justice to the setters theme. Therefore, I decided to draw them to a larger scale, probably 3:2.

Of course, many do not require any artwork in the final grid but I still draw them anyway - I just get pleasure from it, I don't really know why?

Thanks, Brendan - and I did find that interesting, seriously! My old printer used to allow me to blow up the grids/whatever I was photocopying, but our current one doesn't. I can imagine your filled grids, the larger ones, will look very attractive at times - for the Joseph/Dreamcoat one, say.

For sure the Dreamcoat one.

But I also think of the now infamous Book of Kells puzzle, IQ 1733 Mirror Image IV by Serpent, Listener 4902 Threes by Miles which just required the solver to outilne PITH, JUDO and CALF but I filled each letter with a different colour. Then there was Listener 4695 Betrayal by Nudd where I coloured my representation of Rene Magritte's painting The Treachery of Images (Ceci N'est Pas Une Pipe). And let's not foirget Listener 4662 Hungry by Android that included a deletion and then moving of Poe's Nevermore repeating Raven.

I treated all of these and many more as artisticly as I could, and having a larger grid drawn on white paper gave them an energy and vibrancy that was just not possible in the newspaper's smaller grey pages.

All that said, we'll see how my hand holds up in the future - it's yet to be tested since my op and stookie removal:-)
