I'm never good with alphabetical puzzles, but I have a decent number of answers now. I've had several attempts at fitting them in the grid - messy and unsuccessful! I'd like to persevere so am hoping that help with this longest answer could lead to progress...

Crux of editors' cut completely obscures plot (13, 3 words). The solution lies between N... and O... (I think).

It's thematic, so the grid entry itself does not lie between N and O. In a thematic sense, however, it does.

Middle letter of editors + "cuT" + "completely" with a type of plot inside

Ah, thanks, Buddy - I'd had a similar thought on an earlier entry but didn't even think of it for this one! I'll have another bash now...

That was fun and a good challenge. I only deciphered the theme with a complete grid but others might get there sooner.

Yes, indeed, a really good challenge with some tricky clueing and red herrings. I should have got the theme sooner as it's been used before, not that long ago?

I've been very busy today so, thus far, have only had time for a cursory glance , but my heart did sink a little when I saw that, in addition to it being an 'enter answers where they fit' alphabetical puzzle, I noticed at least two answers of 3 letters but no corresponding spaces in the grid.

It should be added, however, that due to my hand recently being in a cast - sorry, stookie, and still having to wear a strap on one at night (ooh e... don't Bren, please - just don't), I've been removing my glasses using just one hand with the entirely predictable result that one of the arms has snapped off them. My point being that, in my visually challenged state, there may very well be 3 letter spaces in the grid but I've just failed to see them.

You're right, Brendan - you HAVE failed to see them! Columns three and 11...

PS I'm not getting anywhere with 'Crux..' despite the helpful hint (I think this may be caused by my antipathy towards 'entered where they fit' puzzles).

Oh, for heavens sake!

In the words of the late, great Joe Strummer "What the hell is wroing with me"?

Many thanks Malone:-)

Brendan, your enthusiasm for 'stookie' means you can do no wrong in my eyes, so it's fine with me. PS I hope you're soon 100% totally fit and well.
