Thanks, jono. Yes, I had one clue with both a letter to be added and a special word!

All done bar one clue. Can anyone help on 21? I think I know the answer but don't see the parsing

21 parses 3,1,1,1 and is a word removal clue.

Hmmm. I have all the clues bar 21 and the theme has been clear for a while. For 21, I know the removal since it is obvious from the theme. But I'm just not seeing the 3,1,1,1 parsing. Maybe it will come to me later.

Thanks to Turnstone for a very enjoyable puzzle and to Jono for the interactive grid.

Geeker, knowing your interests I was going to recommend this puzzle to you but, when perusing the posts, realised you'd already done it:-)

I meant to say that I made this a lot harder for myself than it needed to be by misreading the preamble and thinking the omitted letter was from the clue and not the wordplay!

Brendan, thanks for thinking of me. 😂

Being a lazy Philistine, I prefer my crosswords in half-hour size bites and usually abandon the Genius after 30-60 minutes.

This was an exception because of the theme. The one other Genius I recall "breezing through" (relatively) also had an appealing theme, classical music iirc but details escape me.

Geeker, you might be thinking of the Pangakupu puzzle with flats and sharps from last year. If it’s older than that I can’t recall a classical music theme.

Btw, I invited Turnstone to pop in and she said she would.
