Some guidance would be appreciated. I always understood that solutions for The Times Cryptic had to be supported by Chambers? Is this different for the Saturday Jumbo? The answer to 3 down - Stanchion seems to relate to Stan, which, according to Google, is an obsessive or devoted fan ( from the Eminem song). However, it's not in my online Chambers, although it does appear in Merriam-Webster,

Omegamix, 'Stan' is in Collins. One source states that
"Setters are advised that answer words should ideally be justifiable in at least one of Chambers, Collins or the Concise Oxford Dictionary, with Collins preferred for its range of proper nouns."

No wonder I couldn’t get 3d, if solvers now need to be familiar with obscure slang like ‘stan’ then it’s time for me to give up. Dreadful clue.

1a Puzzle accepted to absorb detective sergeant and chief (10)
Wordsearch? I can see 'ds' for detective sergeant and 'ch' for chief but not the rest.

Stumped by 42ac.

Leader of Supreme Court dismissed and moved with a rustling sound (8)

We have S.O.S.E.

Swooshed?

I can see the S for supreme leader and woo for court. Does shed = dismissed?

2 down, broadcast excellent bits (5) I've got radio as the answer but apart from radio being a synonym for broadcast i can't see where the rest of the clue comes in. I'm probably missing something obvious, any suggestions please?
