Fine Everyman with several witty misdirections. So much so that
my LOI was 14d (I was considerably distracted by knowing that Spooner Oldham played on Aretha Franklin sessions.)

On the easier side today I found.
The Spoonerism made me laugh out loud.
LOI 7d embarrassingly. Should have been a write in!

It's probably obvious but where does the 6th letter of 5d (Chopped sage and a piece of lardo: an Italian dish) come from?

I believe ‘an’ is part of the fodder and the ‘a’ isn’t.

Agree a slightly easier one today.

Enjoyed Spoonerism, enjoyed the cockneyism (?), and the 'first word' pairing of 6d and 11d.

Agree on CoD of 20a. Very clever, needed online help for that.

Although I can guess the solutions to 17A and 24A, I can't see why. Any clues please!
