Like others, I was confounded for several days because of a conviction that the missing letters from 24d were I and D in either order. I’m also not persuaded that 1d makes much sense when you add the missing letter, but together with 20d it gives a big clue to what follows.

Just a big thank you. Was stuck and bored until I read your subtle suggestions. I still haven't got the 5th clue supplement so advice on that would be welcome. Some how 'e's law' looks improbable...

Improbable yet true. It goes between the T and the H, with a space added.

First time trying this. I haven’t really got to the 3 letter words yet but nearly done with rest of grid. Any help on 43 (Busy at Fringe Featival with debuts from Edinburgh’s new talent) or 46 (Agreed to depart together) or 38 (Computer features sound waves would be helpful)? Thanks.

Xwordfiend, 43 def. is 'Busy at the Fringe'. The festival is Arabic
38 is an anagram.
