I have an initially filled grid, the quotation and the chap, and I can see what (i) refers to … but the relocations are eluding me. The trouble with “symmetry” is that there are many ways of satisfying it. It would be useful to know what “the same distance” is, and whether it’s a straight line or something with bends, like a knight’s move.

Jockie - If you can find the 8 cells that need moving (translation of the quotation), they each move 2 cells diagonally away from the centre of the grid
