All things I didn't know. I'd managed to get 22d by googling constellations, but I'd never heard of 12ac or the other flood survivor. And I didn't know "bit if bread" could mean currency.

FOI 11ac, LOI 12ac, Cods 8ac, 21ac and 26ac

But a pleasant enough solve in this continuing hot weather; 28C again here today.

Obscure words but scrupulously fair, I thought. Not much aha-moment jouissance though - though 17d was pretty cool

I echo everyone else in the relief it was more accessible than last week’s torture. I started quickly with a dozen answers in as many minutes but then started to have to work for my solves.

E and S all complete, now just stuck on NW corner. I still need:

1d 2d & 3d as well as 8a 10a

I got 12a based on the comments so thanks to everyone that aided me.

Any hints for my remaining would be lovely.

As so often is the case, it’s as if the action of asking for help has somehow helped in itself. Got 2d and the others then followed. All done, all parsed.

A satisfying if not particularly exciting experience . Like many others found some new words ie 12 and 22a . 6d wasn’t a new word but the definition was new. My American visitors had left so no help there !

COD nothing outstanding but I liked 19, 6a and 10.

Late as ever, but finished it without any help from the forum though with several uses of CrosswordSolver. Foi 18d, LoI 10a: whole N W corner came very late.
