For 21 "on the front" doesn't refer to the solution, but to one of the words in the clue. Not sure it quite works.

HI everyone

I thought I'd be leaving this one until tomorrow as we are off out to Budleigh Salterton Music festival shortly, but following an hour or so looking through the clues, I have solve quite a few despite not knowing all the words.

I've got about eight left to do, but they will have to wait until later tonight or tomorrow. I hope some of you are around to offer hints when I need them.

Hi everyone,

Struggling to concentrate this weekend due to a (very) unwell father-in-law along with oodles of work related stresses. Thought the crossword would take my mind off things for a while. Haven’t read through the entire thread properly so apologies if I’m treading on already trodden ground.

Have all but 17a, 25a, 21d and the first 3 letter word of 14d (!)

I imagine I simply don’t know 17a.

Started quickly, mainly on western side with a few simple write-ins. So far, COD is the simple and sweet 3d.

Am I the only person that has never read/used 2d (assuming I’m correct)?

Got 11d purely by logic. A word that rings a very faint bell.

Any help with my remainders much appreciated.

Hi PaulRT
25 is thematic - the punctuation is part of the parsing
21d see earlier posts
14d there's a religious connection

Hi Chrise

Thanks for your reply. Great. Got 25 and 21 now.

I’ll struggle with the others (or even cheat!) later.

Thanks again

Paulrt, 17 is indeed an obscure word. I’ve only seen it in the Listener until now. The definition is the first four words, and it parses 4,1,4.
