Hi Kerguelen. I have a 't' at the end of 35d. That then makes forming the anagram for 51 across simpler. I too had an 's' originally but I think the 't' actually makes the biscuits plural.

I’m making very little progress in the top left corner. Could someone provide a hint for 1 across “Wide open acting in series (7)” to help me get going in this corner? I only have the last letter, which I think is a city initial if I’ve guessed the country correctly.
Porthwick, there's a single letter abbreviation inside a word meaning 'series', as in a series of results, say,or maybe a series of letters after your name. Wide open, a verb is needed....
