A really fine IQ puzzle today,very enjoyable.
Some of the clues are really wordy and took some unravelling and there were a couple of ambiguities which were resolved when the messages became clearer. A great grid construction too, so many thanks to Luxor!

Finding the format very tough! Got about 50% done.
A steer on 1d would be very helpful! Got the other long one.

It's early doors so don't want to give too much away but the insect is 4 letters.....hope that helps.

Lumen I googled the last word which is 7 letters long and one you might guess at if you’ve got the across answers

I now have a full grid and two very clear instructions, but I do not know which cell to alter nor what the theme is.
