I am a bear of very little brain on this puzzle. I have a full grid, the “source” and the 8 and 4 letters. (The latter give me a colour which might also be a name - I remember a radio Rabbi called that.) But absolutely no idea as to the theme; the penny remains stubbornly suspended. A nudge - or possibly a hard shove - would be appreciated.

Your 4 letters are correct ... your 8 required letters (if correct) should give you a 2 word phrase that the four letters give a specific type. Then looking at the grid should ring a few bells ...
