All done. A pleasant, mid-range in terms of difficulty, solve. Neat grid in the end though.

Agreed. I was amused, though, that we "must" draw two connected red lines and two black circles. Please don't tell but I do the puzzle in pencil! It's amazing how much Tipp-Ex you can save that way.

Amazing how the named in full, and 11d, depict 1a.

I'm sorry, but I found this one a little disappointing! I think this was mainly due to Vismut often giving us great, clever, well-crafted puzzles - whereas I found this one just ... OK. Many of the the clues were very easy, the theme's been done before - and it's another of the 'blast from the past' puzzles. It was fine as far as it went - but for me, it just didn't go very far!

Will37: if you don't draw the red lines and the black circles, you haven't finished!
I found this fun, if not particularly taxing.
