Well, I have filled this in, but surely there several ambiguities?

With Doc as setter and editor, ambiguities wouldn't surprise me at all. And he maybe had words left over from the last time he used this theme!

Yet again, the words "by Doc" after the puzzle's title mean that solvers should be prepared for a slapdash puzzle. I have five valid possibilites for 2D but no idea which is to be preferred. I think there is an apostrophe in 30, yet the rubric does not say that an apostrophe is to be ignored. If 32A is the two word answer which is not listed in Chambers and if 24A/31A is one paired word, then 26D/34A (or 34A/26D) is the other paired word, but can't make anything fit.

I don't have an apostrophe in 30a but elsewhere I have a couple of acute accents which need to be ignored -- unless I'm completely wrong!

I had exactly the same initial reaction to 2d ... until the penny dropped.

And 35A should be e. g. "Deduce there isn't a conflagration", not "Imply there isn't a conflagration".

Being a realist- with the previous experience of Doc puzzles, with their errors and omissions and occasional wonky preambles - means I now simply ignore any and all inaccuracies, ambiguities etc. This seems to be Doc's preferred stance, I decided to follow in his footsteps.

By my reckoning:
- Two paired words are 24A/31A* and 34A/26D (or 26D/34A)
- Three of two words are 32A* (which is not listed in Chambers), 33D* and 43A*
- Two hyphened are 27D* and 30A* (I think the latter has an ignored apostrophe, but the preamble does not mention this)

I have all the other unclued lights except 2D, where I see no reason to prefer one of at least five possibilites over the others.

*I have an entry for this
