I also can't find the last place and also can't find the letter string. Can someone give me a clue as to where it is? The second column looks vaguely promising but it has a p in the middle of it.

Never mind, I've found it. Just the parsing for 1 and 16 please

Sh, for 1a definition is first two words, wordplay is a 3-letter word inside a 3-letter abbreviation, all reversed (going west).
For 16, definition is first word minus extra letter, wordplay is 3-letter consequence then 1 letter for "of" cut, inside 3-letter poetic spelling of a word meaning to merit.

Cheers, I had the singular rather than the plural in 1a, obvious when you get the right answer....
