You can work it out with the clue to the letter string in the preamble, Gitto

Finding the jumbled letter string somewhere in the puzzle will identify the place name in row 4 Gitto. Cheers.

That was fun. It helped me immensely to get an early solution to the extra letters - thanks to google auto-complete!

Arriving here late and prematurely stuck. Help with 1d appreciated: Cycling computer data round device for phoning and so on (12, 2 words). One letter to be removed before solving.

Notnil, glad I could help. You didn't mention which letters, if any, you had, so I didn't know how helpful a hint would be - and just provided the answer.

Forgive me, please, but speaking personally I would have preferred to see more hints rather than the actual answer coming up without a spoiler alert. I dare say I'm very much in the minority so please feel free to ignore this!
