Hi roof
If you mean 9a (and not 1a) it is 7 for 'zero' losing 'ball' containing 3 for organ...last 3 words being the definition.

Finished earlier than usual. For a while had the top half almost solid but nothing in the south.

Not sure about clue 14d as it seems all one definition really, and also 8d seems a bit inzdequate for 2nd word.

But good fun. I think I probably guessed the same wrong "songfest" as Roof for 19a: I only had first letter, and the length of the Welsh one was right if I spelled it right but I couldn't make it match the clue beyond that!

FOI: 9A
LOI: 15D
COD: Perhaps 18d, a nice word.

COD is definitely 4d for me. Grimly pushy. Fantastic.

Flew through this then got to the last clue, 24 across and seem to have something wrong. I've got S*c*c*s and I'm pretty sure of my answers down but surely there's no such word? Anyone help?

Terrymerv, I'm not doing the puzzle and you haven't given the clue, but I've looked online. Your second C is wrong, the answer's a double definition.

Thanks! My wrong answer to 15 down I think was better than the correct answer! Just too many states in the US I guess.

On the late shift, can anyone help with 22across? We think we have the first two and fourth letters, but can’t figure out the vowel for third letter or parse what it might be. Thanks

Maybe just a word meaning 'humble' verb, and reversed (turning) it's an American, New York, word for 'bottom', in Chambers?
