The page insists I turn my device (I'm using a PC, so it's a bit tricky) through 90 degrees before it will show the puzzle. The elves at The Observer are getting dafter by the week. How do I find the puzzle?

Thanks, but from the look of the clues the Preamble is essential. Is there a way of finding it?

The preamble: "Two Faces - Ambiguity in clues is a fascination of mine. In this puzzle, each clue gives an answer to its own entry, but also to a later entry of the same length. Someone once said this kind of puzzle is like the optical illusion of two faces and a vase - change how you look at each clue, and something completely different appears."

It's a challenging puzzle. I have found only about 10 answers and I am far from sure that I have put them in the right places, so there are a lot of cold solves to do.

The clue at 4D for example: It is easy to find one answer (which I think must be entered at 4D in the grid), but I can't parse the clue to give a second answer.

Long ago, on April 1, Ximenes had one where - apart from one answer which could only fit in one place - every other light could fit into two identical grids. Nightmare.

I thought this was a high-class piece of setting. Some of the alternative parsing are quite tricky, but that’s inevitable. The gridfill is pretty smooth once the long answers have been sorted out

First one is what Americans go to at term end. IVR for Portugal and a capital city missing end of Algarve.

Second one you have, anagram (dance) of third and second last words.
