Methinks the numbering 23/25/27d is askew, just a heads up. Correct me if I"m wrong!

Yes, the numbering is very obviously wrong.There are NO Down clues with those numbers,so it was very easy just to ignore the error.

The Numbers Are Right, 23 Starts With 't' And Ends With 'e', 25 Starts With 'g And Ends With 'n', 27 Starts With'v' And Ends With 'e'.Surprising Result At Denton And Gorton!.

Sorry, Forgot, They Should Read Across,Not Down.

Stuck On 9 Down, Any Ideas?.

PS I did this puzzle yesterday, but have passed the magazine on to a friend...

Cyclops listing related clues as Down rather than Across was mildly irritating, but it probably held most solvers up for about three seconds!

9 down: Sex partner with a new spur is flop. (3,2,3)
Slang word for sex + (partnered with) abbreviation of "a new" + another word for "spur" as in encourage = flop.

1 acc Rich, wants a country landscape feature that isn't laughingly odd (5, 2-2). Any hints welcome please ...n. .. ..

a phrase to distinguish amusing from odd.
