Hello.
Once again I'm looking for the Everyman (April 12). I tried adapting last week's url but that didn't work...

Some tricky parsing in there today. Stuck on 4d, where there's only one word that fits, but it seems to bear no relation to the clue: definition OR parsing!

4 is one of several clues I didn't love.
AFAICT, parses as reversed ("picked up") 4,3 where 4 is "muscle collective" and 3 is "commit crime'.
But I don't see a clear definition unless the clue is meant as an &lit.

OK, I'll concede the parsing works. Thanks for putting me out of my misery. Time for some household chores then ...

Geeker and Plutocrat - I think you've got 4d exactly right: reversed 4 (muscle group), 3 (commit crime), with the whole clue an &lit. Very clever ... but like so many others this week, almost impossible to get without multiple crossers, which I find annoying.
I still can't parse 12a. Again, there's only one possible answer, but I can't see how you get there from the clue. Any ideas?

Phil, 12a. Definition is "put an end to". Single letter abbreviation + "games" (2), all in "fuss" (2-2)

Hi Phil,
12a is 1,2 inside 4 (usually hyphenated, meaning fuss)

Plutocrat's link isn't working for me . Can you do the honours Jono?
Thanks in advance .

Thanks Jono and Mattrom. Ahh, of course. I had a complete mental block over the two-letter 'games' for some reason. Maybe because I don't remember seeing it in an Everyman since this setter took over?
