Odd that the .pdf option seems to have disappeared from the online version. Solving a more complex puzzle online I find both clunky and inconvenient. Online submission, on the other hand, is a boon. So I have taken to printing a paper version from Press Reader and then transcribing my completed puzzle into the online grid.

Jack, select “print” from the menu at upper right and a pdf appears.

Observer now also accepting entry by email for all their puzzles, so if you complete on paper you can just take an image of your completed grid and email to competitions@observer.co.uk with your contact details.
