Really enjoyed this, a fair few loose (and obscure) ends to find but it all comes together nicely, Thanks to Shark for a nice holiday challenge.

All done except the highlighting. I know the description of what to look for but I'm not sure what the extreme example is and whether the words are split. Need more grid staring.

Full grid, but struggling to parse 6d and 13a, which cross. Have a slang word for soccer and a dubious synonym for tract?
Also parsing for 15a!
End game seems a challenge! Group C appears to have at least 14 letters and mine are gibberish.
For Group B, I'd love to know if all the letters 'copied' come from down entries, or can we use a column letter that originated in an across entry?

For 6d, the wordplay is 3-2-2 minus a letter in the 3, all reversed. For 15a the wordplay is 3-2 and the definition is the last word, not in a residential sense.
Letters for the bottom row can come from across or down answers. If the cell is a checked one, both the across and down answers make sense without the letter.

Sorry, I meant 13a rather than 15a.
15a parses 3-4-3 minus two letters from the 4.

Thanks ozzy. Happy with 7d and 15a now. Double letter seems to mean two of the same letters consecutively then, I thought maybe it was any two extra letters.
Still not convinced I have correct first letter in 13a. Can see it's a vague synonym for house, if it's L.

If you look up 'house' there is a meaning shown as army slang which is the same as a meaning of the answer.

A wee hint for (e) would be appreciated. I have the others, although the bottom row took several reorganisations. I have tried a selection of possibilities but none works so far. I even thought Billy Connelly (the big yin) but not enough letters obviously. Would have raised a laugh however.

Thanks Buddy. I saw that online but rejected it for some reason.
