26a. Art going to fade? (4)
W*L*
I guess it’s ‘wilt’, but why?

maybe some archaic 2nd person singular thing - thou art, thou wilt ?

It’s art going to as in “thou art going to, the archaic form of you will, i.e. “thou wilt”. Crops up occasionally, so watch out for the word “art”

Duplicate thread by Rocketman

24 Across - "Praise God for speakers of RP" (4) L-U-
It obviously looks like LAUD, but I don't see the "RP" tie-in.

This one, only RP speakers pronounce LAUD and LORD the same. Those of us with sensible accents voice the R in the latter. Unusual of a setter to acknowledge this!

I don't like the surface of 1 across: Gift of prophesy in age of superstition (10).

Surely prophesy can't be a noun, even in American?

I like our c/noun, s/verb distinction, audible in advice, advise, and useful in licence, license.

Quite agree. Not supported by Chambers or Collins (their cited authority), and for good reason. Simply incorrect, and shoddy editing
