The clues...
Requests for help should normally include the clue itself, the number of letters in the answer and details of any you already have. Any additional information or special instructions, common in Listener puzzles, should also be included.
Hints only, please, no answers.

The theme...
Help with the theme may also be sought here. The assistance given should be fairly gentle in nature, just a nudge or a pointer in the right direction. Avoid giving any information that could spoil the puzzle for other solvers.
If you feel that too much has been revealed, please let the site administrator know - Norah.evoluted@aol.com. Norah errs on the side of caution, anything at all iffy is likely to be removed.

The Listener is a unique puzzle and should be treated with respect.

An interesting and previously unknown subject elegantly depicted.

Thanks, Serpent

After that daunting preamble (FIVE unclued entries in a blank grid puzzle!),this was actually more straightforward than I expected. Definitely not too easy, though.

In the spirit of several comments on #4913, I made an assumption about the structure of the grid, quickly found that that was wrong, but then managed to get it done from my second start.

I agree with Upsetter's description.

Thanks, Serpent.

Also enjoyed this. Agree it was less daunting than first appeared. End game took me a little while to figure out what was going on.

No grid guessing required for me. After cold solving about eight (including first across and second and third down) I had the NW / SE structure and it all followed very nicely from there.

I can't get a toehold on this at all! I have solved a mere 18 clues and the initial letters of the extra words in those don't seem to make a lot of sense yet. A hint to the first across clue may help. I think I know where the down clues start, but that isn't helping me.

Excellent puzzle, nicely unpredictable and coming together beautifully at the end. I'm not sure the hidden message was needed.
