The clues...
Requests for help should normally include the clue itself, the number of letters in the answer, and details of any you already have. Any additional information, or special instructions, common in Listener puzzles, should also be included.
Hints only, please, no answers.

The theme...
Help with the theme may also be sought here. It's envisaged that the help given will be on the gentler side - just a nudge, a pointer in the right direction. Make sure you don't give information that would spoil the puzzle for other solvers.
If you feel that too much has been revealed, please let the site administrator know - Norah.evoluted@aol.com. Norah very much errs on the side of caution, anything 'iffy' is likely to be removed.

The Listener is a unique puzzle and should be treated with respect.

Hopefully I'm missing something, cos after half an hour this looks like an absolute nightmare. Hard to see how you get anything into the grid til you've cold solved everything.

Hopefully I'm wrong.....

Usually with these effectively carte blanche things I can start to make tentative entries with about two-thirds of the clues solved. After 2+ hours I have 24 solved … but light has yet to dawn. Soldier on!

I have one very tentative entry (of just 3 letters) and “a mind as blank as an unaddressed envelope” - which I suspect is a fragmentary recollection from a Jennings and Darbyshire book and not Wodehouse. I may throw in the towel if some dim light as to the “method of entry” - which otherwise seems hopelessly random - doesn’t dawn.

Consider the double clues after a very careful reading of the preamble.
