There is nowhere to submit the 3 unclued entries!

I think you are right. I always use the print version and fill in grid. I never submit anyway.

Interesting. Finished quickly two months in a row. Don’t ignore the clue parings!

I’ve found a connection between 26a and 17d by googling. No idea how they link to 16a, which seems to have only 2 possible solutions. Previous posts inclined me to the one that isn’t a proper name. But no idea how they relate to the extra/missing letters. Annoying to have a relatively easy grid and then to fall at the last hurdle.

No problems with the grid; relation of paired clues duly noted; I can find answers to 16a/17d which can be related to that "relation", but cannot see any connection to the only word that seems to fit in 26, which makes me think there is something else that fits into 26 that the standard word-finders are missing.

Also, is the theme "one hyphenated word", or "two words, one of which is hyphenated"? Any suitably oblique hints appreciated.

One hyphenated.

There is more to the relationship between the Across / Down pairings than just the order.
