Grid filled, chap found, but Wiki has little to say about him. This is so far outside my cultural comfort zone that I’m not convinced I should try to find the 34 cells. A hint, perhaps?

If you google his most famous offering + silhouette, you should get an idea of what the central figure will look like. The names refer to the last word of the title

That’s the hardest to find. It has three diagonal moves and goes furthest south. Should be obvious where it starts. Same initial letter as one of the other names. It is in the Wiki list

I have what needs to go below the grid but am struggling with some of the 7 names which need highlighting. The 3 I have are on the left hand side, one of which starts in the central column. (2 6s and a 4) I can see a 5 letter one on the same side in the shape of the letter with which it starts which I think is right. There is a possible 3 letter one which touches the one I have starting in the central column but I'm not convinced about that. The right-hand entries have me completely flummoxed despite repeated references to various lists. Any pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.

If you know what is represented, you know where they start, and how long they are. Check the lists for those initial letters. Note, some entries only touch on a corner.
