What is going on with 24a? I assume I have the answer but have not parsed it.

If you write "school" after the first three letters, it's a common contraction

Rosencrantz re.24
Ignore the capital letters. Just remove a letter from a clued 5 letter word

Was just about to post that I couldn’t parse 14d, even with the answer, when it clicked and I understand why so many enjoyed it!

Thanks Chrise.

Am just trying Azed. Can't believe 'E.g. Homeric events, read in repose' is not DOZE!

Rosencrantz,
Moving from Everyman to Azed, you’ll find a rather surprising coicidence in one of the clues.

Damatraat,
Just saw your earlier question. Berner Street is the Observer office so, yes, all competition entries go there.
That said, today’s Azed is not a competition puzzle. I understand Gemelo will set the next one.

Most enjoyable - lots of smiles.

COD 15a - despite having to confirm by Google.
LOI 17 - nice

I have to disagree, raffles - I thought 15a was easily the weakest clue in the puzzle. "C17-18" is clumsy.
Lots of good ones, though. 17d was another amusing one.
