Can't count, I mean 1,9 & 10 letters long!

teenieleek, have you identified the two protagonists? If so, read the "relationships" section on the wiki page of the male one.

BTW teenieleek, there is a hyperlink within that section to the words you are looking for, but it only contains two of the three words.

Thanks muraria, still can't see how to make the cuts though.

Gitto, I already had the two words (9,10) by zigzagging without cutting. I thought I was looking for something different. My cut is a zigzag separating the two words.

I just needed the A. I was trying to slide the doors to find something else. Silly me. Not as silly as the expression for these coaches being separated however.

The path of my cut is 10 single cell vertical cuts interleaved with 9 triple cell horizontal cuts. It allows the two symmetrical halves to be slid one cell apart. There may be a better way, of course

Another gem, though the theme's 'protagonists' are the type I do my best to avoid thinking about. It took me some time to find their infamous (tautological, inane and irritating) 'creation'. I shall now do my best to erase it from my memory.
