helveticus

A typical Doc puzzle: a tiresome trawl through Brewer plus slapdash editing. Not finished yet, but by my reckoning, seven unclued lights (two of two words) follow (not precede) the word defined by the title and four precede (not follow) it.

Helveticus, I'm afraid the rubric is correct. Seven precede and 4 follow. Think of the King's sister.

Surely 9a and 39a (both of two words) follow (not precede) the word defined by the title?

Helveticus, I’m with you regarding the 7 / 4 split.

As I don’t have Brewers my only doubt is 35 which I can only tentatively confirm on line. Does it have something to do with a fire?

Hi Jono, no Brewer here either (I am on holiday and did not pack it), but I think that 35a relates to animals.

I only have a very ancient Brewers - and the one on line appears to be of the same vintage. Of the 11 solutions (plus 19x24) only 35a appears ... But I believe I have everything in place. And you're right, helveticus and jono, 7 do follow and four precede.
