Can't parse these possible answers so although they fit the crossing letters they could well be wrong.

43a US unit engaged in northern river works? (10)
Literature?

31d Jacket that's suggested by tourist on vacation? (7)
Doublet?

49d Playwright somehow or other found inspiration in seconds (5)
Orton?

We struggled with those as well. Thank you for the explanations.

Please can anyone help with these?

41a: Perverse unintroduced rate cuts occurring now (12)
Looks like CONTEMPORARY, but why?

11d: Traditional newspaper promotion split either side of excessive hype, extremely boring to being with (4,3,4)
SPOT THE BALL? That would be a traditional newspaper promotion, but how does the parsing work?

Thanks in advance!

41a is (t)empo, rate without its first letter, in contrary, perverse.

11d is O(ver) T(he) T(op) (excessive) H(yp)E (extremes of hype), B (boring to begin with) surrounded by SPALL, verb meaning to chip or splinter.
