Have all you solvers paid the subscription? After access last week. I find myself blocked again.

Hi Swarbs, I just use the pdf, which is here…

https://cdn.slowdownwiseup.co.uk/media/documents/obs.everyman.20251221.pdf

You can just change the date at the end of the url each week to get the new one.

I say straight in but it only showed last weeks and I didn't want to wait who knows how long so just changed the number at the end of the URL from 4130 to 4131.

Good call, Bren. I switched to Brave and got straight in, updated the url, did the grid fill and submitted.

Thanks Brendan! I couldn’t see how it was going to have a food theme. But it does! Clever stuff!

Brendan, thanks for the link to the SNL sketch. I'd not seen it before but very funny. Are we going to discuss 'aluminum' and 'nucular' next? [wink emoji]

I think this might be quite hard for beginners: the tricks being used are not obvious but make sense was you have the answer. Not sure how legitimate is the wine misdirection.

FWIW I am registered but not subscribing in the UK and the site works much better than it did. Overseas IP addresses may be the problem but a VPN may solve that.

Having rigid regional English spellings is a fool's game. Lots of "theatres" in the US, including war memorials while the Victorians dropped u s all the time. Having spelling standardised to pronunciation is obviously not going to work as anyone knows who has read any discussion on sound alike clues on any crossword forum ever.
