In case anyone is still there…

I’m driving myself mad here! I have the title and full name, and most of the clues. Given the enormous uncertainty around entry, I thought the way in must be to work out where the name could go. But I cannot make any starting point work.

Here’s my logic:
1) six unclued entries give six spaces
2) one space is given by the eight letter unclued entry
3) so counting round from that space, starting with each different word in the full name, should tell you whether a particular configuration works

But this doesn't work! I end up with spaces on 3- or 6-lettered entries, which cannot contain a space as there are no unclued entries of that length.

Anyone have a hint as to what I am missing?!

I don’t think that approach is likely to work, adeano, if I understand it correctly. Spaces can occur within names, as well as at the start or end of them. As touched on earlier, if you have the three-letter answers, see if you can make them fit with a seven-letter answer in the bottom row. That should start you off

Adeano, as Quisling said, the spaces are sometimes within the names. It may also help that the letters provided from the 3-letter answers only appear once each in the full name(s).

Good grief, that’s stupid! Six words, six spaces, but no correspondence between the two?!

I was ready to like this puzzle, if the key was getting the name - because that would give you a whole bunch of information.

As it is, looks like it’s another jigsaw, not a crossword. As in you have to cold solve most of the puzzle to make any progress, rather than gaining information in increments. Had a few of them this year, not impressed…

adeano, I started filling the grid by looking for an answer that includes the first letter of the creator's name. There's really only one place it can go.

Thanks ukridge - I’d done the same thing, but then got thrown by applying logic to the placement of the places.

It could also go in column six (which would also fit with the “clockwise” instruction) - I thought this less likely, but given the extremely high uncertainty about where most things go, I couldn’t rule it out…
