I realise that Jack, I just cannot see why it is plural.

Try putting “my” in front of both words.

All solved, a very pleasant puzzle that smoothly fell in to place with a few educated guesses.

My only snag is understanding how “What one may sign…” parses

Naturally, the moment after I asked for help with a clue I solved it myself. I recommend it as a solving strategy.

I didn’t really need to go and get the book off my shelf but it confirmed the unclued words. Now thinking about fitting it all in!

All good fun and my thanks to Eclogue. Briefly held up by having the wrong hamlet (I had managed to convince myself that it was an anagram) but with so much already in the grid and the necessary extra letter being fixed, I made another visit to Italy and there it was.

Got there 🙂 Once you've made a few inroads the rest falls neatly into place. Thank you, Eclogue

Finding this somewhat frustrating. Haven't spent a ton of time on it yet but I've solved 27 out of 34 clues and I've got no chance of making a start on the grid because of the massive optionality of leaving the letters out. Doesn't seem to be in line with the guidance about being able to make inroads with the grid after solving half the clues.

Think I have 10 of the 14 letters but can't see the work yet. Did anyone else get a foothold in the grid before they had the work figured out?

Smelly, I agree that some of the interior letter moves are elusive. For a few, "Must" doesn't seem entirely accurate. I found enough help on this forum to start looking for the creator and seeing which creation might fit. With that correct, and the unclued entries, there is enough to start filing the grid. Note the unusual length of the creator entry.

I managed to fill in a bit before I found the title, but it didn't help in working out any clues I hadn't solved. Once you have the title, it's plain sailing. Just make sure you have the correct 10 letters: the part of the instruction that reads 'moving an interior letter' is crucial and gives a clue to the title.
