19D Clue is: "Lions meddled when picked up". It's a five letter answer-

Based on the letters already obtained of blank R, blank D and finally blank and the reference to lions, the answer is clear enough but I cannot work out how the clues other than the word for lions gets you to the answer

Can anyone help ?

Thanks

“Picked up” indicates a homophone , so pried (meddled) sounds like pride…
