Pretty good I thought. My suggestion for 8d would be “So let baby cavort with son…”, it actually makes more sense of the following “they”.

I thought 26a was rather witty. Are you getting the (admittedly UK-specific) reference?

Hi Jono,

26a - are you making reference to a soap?

Morning Bren, yes, I think that’s the intention.

Thanks Jono, that was my first thought too but was just left feeling a bit indifferent by the 4 letter word and "chicken"

My first thought for 26a was of the type of parties they had in 1953 when Coronation chicken might have been eaten, but the soap idea works better

Finally struggled through. But can’t parse 4d. Have 2 possible answers that fit crossers a-r-a-e but neither makes sense to me

Pippa, 4d. definition is 'price to go up'. 'Broadcast (3) + 'food' (4). Your letters are correct.

Well, bren, it’s 1006 here and 8 still hasn’t been corrected. Perhaps they’re all having a lie-in in Everymanland.
FWIW I thought 26 was very amusing once I tumbled to it. Lovely surface.

A bizarre mish mash of UK specific (26a, 22d) and, judging by the discussions on here, US specific (20a, 11a, 16a?). Also, 'but may ... not' in 14d seems totally superfluous ... and pretty much meaningless. All in all, far from Everyman's best work.
