Lovely puzzle but stuck on the very end of endgame. Can anyone give a hint to help me identify the 14 cells that need to be exchanged? Thank you!

Rather than look at individual cells, I would scan the grid for pairs of items. You should find four pairs, and be able to proceed from there

Thanks quisling, I have 4 pairs but haven’t done any exchanging. Where have I gone wrong?

Nothing wrong. I think the final part is to swap the two fours and two threes, thereby making new real words throughout. And by doing so you’ll have united the pairs in the grid with their partners.

The symmetry (well almost) helped me spot the fourth pair.

Are the 'pairs of items' words, entries?
Not pairs of cells?
Sorry - still baffled by end game despite filling grid in record time!

Yes, words. Pairs of words that are usually linked with AND. Eg fish and chips but that is not one of them! Also symmetrically placed.
