Well, I can parse it, but I agree. However, in fairness to Everyman, I suppose there has to be a worst clue in every puzzle.

A little harder than usual for me. Think I have got there eventually (not helped by a biffed "Green" in 4 down....) But I still can't quite parse 12 across if anyone can enlighten me? Thank you!

After a very frustrating week staring in vain at SE corner, today I finally gave in and checked, only to find that 24d was not "slip" as I had supposed.
Feeling rather silly.
