Agreed, a gentle offering, with the crossers of 13A leading to the theme almost immediately.

I've just this moment finished, found 5D obscure, still not sure why it works!

5d was also my last one in. It’s in Collins but not Chambers from what I can see.

A 4 letter word for male, then a 5 letter word for visitor ‘cycling’ around a 2 letter word for operational.
