i've got a T from23A. But I don't have an S in the right place. 19A could give an S, but I think it works better with the word left in. I still can't make head nor tails of this.

First was just an example of selecting some of the letters.
The author is 3,7,8 where 3 is a title.

I have the author and a likely work, but I cannot make sense of the 18 letters cryptically representing it. Wikiquote doesn’t help.

There is a foreign word within another foreign word with cryptically gives you the title of one of the authors best known works.

I have everything apart from the first word in 42. I know what it must mean, but my knowledge of the language, good enough to get me an O-Level in the Middle Ages, doesn’t include this word. I’ve done all the rest of it, and could send it in, but I like to feel I’ve actually understood every step.
