I've not seen that before. A bit unfair?

Do you the mean plural?
The actual rule is no plurals that end in S or -ES. FUNGI and ATRIA have appeared before.

Not the plural. I was more put out by the letters it contained, which made it very difficult for me to guess. Can't say more without spoiling.

I’m a very - make that several powers of “very” - occasional visitor to Wordle; but got it in 3 and can’t see any reason why it would be “unfair”. The outcome of my random go at today’s puzzle, however, is no doubt entirely down to where I live and the time of year plus pure blind luck on letter choices than any particular merit on my part.

There are only 20 words among the 2,309 original solutions that contain three of the same letter. We’ve already had 10 of these so it’s not something many would have played for. The global av. score was 4.1 so 3 is good, I played safe for 4.

Not that I take Wordle seriously you understand! 😂

No, not at all, Jono. 😆

I got it in four as well. My second guess nailed down the last two letters, and my third eliminated all other vowels. Didn’t seem unfair to me either.

MMM - a five letter word which includes three the same?

MMM is a valid 3-letter word in Scrabble (Collins Scrabble Words 24 list). The family oriented MUMMY, DADDY and NANNY have already been used and I think repetitions have so far never happened. Decision time will eventually come when the limited Wordle database (less than a fifth of all 5-letter words) is exhausted.

I am always wary of the possible American flavour (should say flavor) as the game is managed by the New York Times. I wasn't aware that FRITZ from the other day was anything other than a man's name. In consulting the archive I noticed GOLEM as a solution I wouldn't have known if I had competed that day.
