Simply do not understand where the answer "Cornet" comes from with the clue that states 16 Across "My final brass instrument" (6)

Is it something to do with funerals, and where does the 'My' come into it?

Am totally flummoxed!

My is the same as COR as a verbal ejaculation. Less convinced about final for NET!

Chambers has 'net...(of eg a result) final or conclusive', so it works well for me.

I like it, making sense of net, and am happy with chrise’s explanation of ‘My’
