[Jack, speaking of the lovely Eddi Reader, I don’t suppose you have a copy of the TV version of John Byrne's Your Cheatin' Heart - his great take on the underbelly of Glasgow's Country Music scene. I recorded every episode but when I went back some years later, all I had was Postman Pat!).

First, my short list:

I liked both tyke's and jon's MIN DREAD ER
Swarb's 9 was very smooth.
Paul's 17 evoked a favorite Pearl Jam song for me.
Of course, wil's math(s) related clue appealed to me.
I got a chuckle from buddy's 24.

Geting, one more tweak and you might have had it. I don't quite see strange as operating on dear with so much in between. Perhaps, "Beware of strange naked nerd, dear ..." would have done it?

In the end, as usual, a tough decision. Ultimately, I narrowed it down to two, either one of which would have been a worthy champion. Paul, you already got a consolation prize, so I'm going with swarbrules and his:
