With so many options for the letters migrating north and south - most top and bottom row cells had at least two and many three possible occupants - the endgame looked like being a nightmare. But actually qait resolved fairly easily. My way in was on the bottom row and remembering where Kcit is based. Thanks to Kcit for what looked a formidable challenge but which quickly made sense.

I’m not sure how “qait” came to be. “It”, obviously.

I didn't get round to this until earlier today. I agree the endgame looked daunting at first sight but I hazarded a lucky guess at the top row and everything then fell neatly into place in the bottom row.

Hello all

Looking for help again.

I have completed this puzzle except for 3d which I cannot understand at all. (I too took a guess at the top line).

3d Book almost completed in Holland (4)
I have L as the moved letter and NO?E
I can only think NOVEL,but have no idea how the clue works.
Thanks in advance.

Anagram of I Retained in full. The letters depart after that.

Grunger, the answer, anagram, is the technical name for 'aquatic gastropod molluscs'...
