I have Torver which is contained in Actor very.
This is in the Lake District
.(the theme of the crossword)

On the Fifteen Squared blog they have a different
answer
actor=turn inside of very = er giving Turner
the famous painter.

Which do you think is correct ?

The interactive puzzle confirms TORVER

On that basis TURNER surely qualifies as a “cook” (a valid answer which was not intended).

btw I saw that one of the other solutions was SILLOTH. If you don't know it, I strongly recommend a visit. It is a surprisingly beautiful little town - lots of green spaces, wide streets, and an immensely long promenade. Birthplace of Kathleen Ferrier (as you are constantly reminded!).
